Patchogue-Medford High School will once again be hosting their prom on Main Street in Patchogue Village with a pre-party mocktail hour at Veterans Park in Medford on June 13.

Last year, for the first time, officials transformed Patchogue Village streets into an outdoor prom venue. The COVID-inspired theme was “Mask-querade under the stars.”

The Prom Committee—Class of 2022, Ava Saper (president), Bella Ricciardi (historian), Killian Worontsoff (secretary) are still preparing for the second prom experience on Main Street in Patchogue, this year with an enchanted forest theme.

According to Saper, the entire class had a hand in choosing the theme.

“We’re really excited for it, it’s not an opportunity that everyone will have,” said Worontsoff. “I think it’s really special after all the hardships we’ve gone through.”

After the mocktail hour, the group will head to Main Street to walk the red carpet then participate in dancing and lawn games.

“I think it’s really exciting,” added Ricciardi. “I can’t wait to be together and have fun.”

William Floyd High School will be hosting their prom at Villa Lombardi’s in Patchogue on June 10, with a “Night at Mount Olympus” theme. About 500 students are expected to attend.

Senior council members Rachel Oriuwa and Jenna Lecuit said the class came up with the theme from an idea at homecoming while also attempting to match the gold and beige colors at the venue. Senior councilmember Logan Novick also noted, “We are most excited about getting some normalcy back,” explaining that it will be the first year with a full prom back after last year’s prom on school grounds. “We wanted to break some traditions and form new ones, which we were able to do this year with the first year coming back.”

Senior council president Ian Hua said he is most excited to try the food at the venue after helping to select the menu.

Senior class advisers Mike and Kate Devenney also mentioned the teamwork that made the night possible.

“This group of seniors is really impressive; they came to a resolution and settled on it with such grace and respect,” Mike said.

“With 20 students, it was the largest student council in William Floyd history,” added Kate. “They did a fantastic job of working together and becoming a family.”

They are looking forward to graduation and the culmination of all their time and effort as the school year comes to a close.

Bellport High School will be holding their prom at Sunset Harbor on June 23 with a masquerade theme.
