Local fire districts held their annual elections for the five-year term of commissioner at their fire headquarters on Tuesday, Dec. 10. The results are as follows:
East Islip
Among those running for commissioner were incumbent commissioner Leonard R. Najdek, Brian Scharfschwerdt Sr., and Michael Barnes. Scharfschwerdt won the election with 179 votes while Najdek received 112 votes and Barnes received 57 votes.
Islip
Incumbent Tom Leggio ran for re-election as commissioner and received 76 votes out of the 77 cast.
Bay Shore
Current commissioner Ralph A. Leggio ran unopposed for the role and was re-elected in the Dec. 10 voting.
West Islip
Albert Cinotti won the West Islip commissioner election with 517 votes. Michael Cooper, who also ran, received 152 votes.
