MacArthur nominated for USA Today’s Best Small Airport

Long Island MacArthur Airport is again in the running for the Best Small Airport in America. Voting for USA Today’s 10Best Readers’ Choice Awards begins today and runs through Oct. 5 at 11:59 a.m. ET. A total of 20 small airports received nominations.

“It’s validating to continue to receive positive attention from the USA Today 10Best editors and independent industry experts,” said Town of Islip supervisor Angie Carpenter. “The nomination demonstrates that the Town of Islip and airport leadership continue to steer Long Island MacArthur Airport in a constructive direction that benefits our community and our travelers. More and more people are discovering ISP as a friendlier and easier alternative to the hectic hustle and bustle of mega NYC airports,” she added.

“We understand that air carriers evaluate many factors as they consider new routes. This positive visibility and recognition are good for us at ISP. The nomination means a lot to our community. Last year we rose to the No. 2 spot, and this year’s awards present an opportunity to work hard together to win and shine a light on Long Island, on our airport, and on our interest in gaining additional air service,” said Long Island MacArthur Airport commissioner Rob Schneider.

The airport will be actively promoting voting throughout the terminal and on social media each day through Oct. 5 using convenient QR codes, bright visuals, creative community interviews, and reels to generate excitement throughout the voting period. The theme highlights that while ISP is a “small” airport with about 1.5 million passengers per year, the airport has big aspirations, big service, big heart and provides big opportunities like good jobs for local Long Island residents.

“It’s true we may be a small airport based on the 10Best criteria. However, we consistently receive high marks for our airline options, easy terminal access, close-in parking access, and the excellent amenities we provide for our customers. Every day we strive to provide top tier experiences for our travelers.”
