Mastic Beach Conservancy installs two more cleanup stations

Posted

Mastic Beach Conservancy, in collaboration with Relic Sustainability, installed two cleanup stations in local Patriot’s Preserve and Shirley Beach on Thursday, April 11.

These two stations join three previously installed stations at Bayview Park, Osprey Park, and Cranberry Pier in 2023 to total five.

By providing baskets, these stations make it convenient for residents to clean up litter in the parks and along our waterways. Along with informative signage about protecting the beaches, the cleanup stations further the Mastic Beach Conservancy’s mission to empower the community to keep the waterfront clean to be enjoyed by all.

“Our pilot program last year proved to us that the stations are useful and effective. We are happy to add another two Relic cleanup stations in our parks and beaches. That way, garbage is making its way to the bin rather than the shoreline,” said vice president Johnny Panessa, who spearheaded the effort.
