It is with deep regret that the Medford Fire Department announced honorary chief, past commissioner, and 51-year member Niel Marturiello has answered his last alarm. Details are as follows:
Niel M. Marturiello, age 75, of Medford, died Friday, Sept. 15. Niel was born Sept. 13, 1948 in Brooklyn, N.Y. Niel served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War from 1969 to 1975. Niel was considered by many to be the “Mayor of Medford.” Niel was an honorary chief and past commissioner with the Medford Fire Department. Niel was a commander with both the VFW and American Legion. Niel also served time with the Medford Chamber of Commerce, where he served in the past as president. He is survived by his beloved wife, Anne Marturiello. He was the loving father of Michael Marturiello, David West and Jerry West; dear brother of Carmelina Marturiello; and cherished grandfather of Julianna and Michael.
