East Islip
Two hundred and seventy-eight seniors will be graduating from East Islip High School on Thursday, June 26. The ceremony will take place at the East Islip High School football field from 6 to 8 p.m.
East Islip High School’s Class of 2025 valedictorian and salutatorian are Ryan Flad and Meeghan Mahon, respectively.
Both Flad and Mahon were named AP Scholars with Honor as well as Commended Students in the 2025 National Merit Scholarship Program.
Flad was awarded All-State honors for trumpet by the New York State School Music Association and earned the 2024 Rensselaer Medal for academic achievement. He will attend Ohio State University, majoring in materials science and engineering.
Mahon serves as vice president of the National Art Honor Society and will graduate with the Capstone Diploma. She will attend Dartmouth College, majoring in government and international relations.
Central Islip
The Central Islip Class of 2025 will graduate at Suffolk Community College, located on Crooked Hill Road in Brentwood. The ceremony will take place at 6 p.m. on Friday, June 27. An estimated 600 students will proudly walk across the stage.
Valedictorian Jacqueline Lopez will be attending Stony Brook University in the fall to study electrical engineering. Lopez was heavily involved at Central Islip High School as the senior class treasurer, a member of National Honor Society, Match Club President (junior and senior year), a member of Student Action Committee and stage crew for “Shrek,” “Clue” and “Beauty and the Beast.”
Salutatorian Lesly Cruz will attend Farmingdale State College, where she was accepted into the nursing program. She will major in nursing and minor in psychology. A student athlete, Cruz was a member of the varsity swim team and was team captain in her junior and senior year. The salutatorian was also involved in costume crew for “Shrek” and “Beauty and the Beast,” CI Baila Team (Spanish dancing club), and was a manager of the boys swim team and middle school co-ed team.
Islip
On Friday, June 27 from 6 to 8:30 p.m., 223 students will celebrate their achievements and graduate from Islip High School on the athletic field.
The valedictorian and salutatorian of the Class of 2025 are John Oggeri and Ryder Miranda. Both seniors were named Commended Students in the 2025 National Merit Scholarship Program.
Valedictorian John Oggeri will attend Massachusetts Institute of Technology. He plans to major in biochemistry with the eventual goal of a career in medicine. Oggeri, an AP Scholar with Distinction graduating with an AP Capstone Diploma, has earned SCMEA Division II Orchestra honors as a musician. He was chosen to attend the summer 2024 American Legion Boys’ State program as a primary delegate.
While salutatorian Ryder Miranda is undecided regarding which college to attend, he plans to major in computer engineering and is an AP Scholar with Distinction.
Bay Shore
The Bay Shore School District commencement ceremony will be held on Friday, June 27 at 6 p.m. on Clifton LaPlatney Field. Four hundred and forty-two Marauders will toss their caps and become alumni.
Valedictorian Amelia Kasten will be attending the University of Virginia, where she will major in economics and math. Among her numerous involvements are National Honor Society, Maroon Echo Newspaper, Interact Club, Best Buddies Club, Math Team, field hockey, golf, crew and Unified Basketball.
Lamiah Ali, salutatorian of the Class of 2025, will major in engineering at Binghamton University. She is a member of Women’s Empowerment Club, hELLo Ambassadors, Interact Club and Environmental Club.
West Islip
The 317 members of the West Islip High School Class of 2025 will graduate on Friday, June 27 from 6 to 7 p.m. at West Islip High School.
The top two academic leaders are Abigail Lam and Taylor Riley, in no specific order.
An Advanced Placement Scholar, Lam is a member of the National Honor Society, World Language Honor Society, Science National Honor Society and National English Honor Society. She is also an All-County tennis player and is a member of the wind ensemble, PEP band and marching band at West Islip High School. Lam has participated in the SPARK Program at Brookhaven National Laboratory as well as its STEM Coders Program. She will be attending Boston University in the fall to study environmental systems and policy.
Riley is the co-president of Student Senate and is a member of the National Honor Society, Math National Honor Society, National English Honor Society and Science National Honor Society. She also serves as captain of the varsity flag football team, captain of the varsity girls bowling team and captain of the varsity girls tennis team. Having completed more than 100 hours of community service, Riley is also a member of the high school’s Century Club. Some of her other involvements include P.S. I Love You Day, SADD, HEARTT Club, Environmental Club and Young Women’s Forum. She will be attending Fairfield University in the fall to study psychology.
