Suffolk County saw the largest jump in confirmed cases last weekend, said Suffolk County executive Steve Bellone. Today, there are a total of 152 cases in the county with three confirmed deaths, compared to yesterdays 97.
“We want to flatten the curve as much as possible,” he added urging the public to continue to practice social distancing and good hand washing.”
The county’s first mobile test site went live earlier this morning at Stony Brook University.
“We are going to continue to see those number ramp up as testing increases,” he said.

However, not everyone who shows up will be tested, Bellone said. Testing at this point, he added, is still fairly tight.
Testing criteria: residents will be able to call a number and get triaged by nurse who will get sense of what the symptoms are to make a determination. Test results will be given within 2-3 days.
“They will not test you without symptoms: fever, cough, shortness in breath,” explained Dr. Gregson Pigott, commissioner, Suffolk County Department of Health Services despite exposure.
Additional testing sites will be determined on an as needed basis.
