Movies on Main

The Halloween spirit is in full swing in Islip with the latest Movies on Main Night. Last Friday, Oct. 2, the Town of Islip held a 6:30 p.m. showing of Halloween staple “Edward Scissorhands” at Islip Town Hall West.

Held in the hall’s main auditorium, many rows of seats were open to the public, giving plenty of room for Islip residents to watch the film. For those looking for a good way to kick off the Halloween season right, the hall’s auditorium screening was free to all, giving families a cost-free night full of creepy fun.

Movie lovers are also invited to the Town of Islip’s Drive-In Movie Night at the Gulf Haven Golf Course. Showing 2002’s “Scooby Doo,” the free movie screening will keep the Halloween-time scares and laughs going on October 16th. Donations are encouraged at the event for the Town of Islip’s Animal Shelter Holiday Pet Food & Treat Drive.

Islip Town Hall West will be hosting additional Movies on Main showings at the start of each month. Last month celebrated Hispanic Heritage Month, presenting “West Side Story”’s tale of culture and romance for the Islip community.

Nov. 6 will bring “The Six Triple Eight,” telling the story of a battalion made entirely up of black women during World War II. For December, Christmas will come early with Dec. 4’s “Santa Claus: The Movie.” A special school’s out night will close out the Movies on Main Series with a showing of “Dr. Doolittle” on Dec. 29.
