On Saturday, June 25, William Floyd High School held its 63rd commencement ceremony to celebrate the nearly 700 students who completed the requirements for graduation and became William Floyd’s newest alumni.

Family and friends gathered together on a glorious morning to watch their loved ones walk across the stage and receive their high school diplomas. The event was also simultaneously live-streamed on the district’s YouTube channel for those who could not be in attendance.

The ceremony kicked off with the presentation of colors by the William Floyd High School NJROTC, under the leadership Cmdr. Christian Gaskill (U.S.N./Ret.) and Chief Petty Officer Tao Chen (U.S.N./Ret.), followed by a beautiful rendition of Francis Scott Key’s “The Star-Spangled Banner” as sung by the graduating seniors of the William Floyd High School chorus, under the direction of Barbara D’Orio.

Commencement speakers included valedictorian Ian Hua and salutatorian Adam Schultzer, along with board of education president April Coppola, who recognized the students who have enlisted in the Armed Forces; superintendent of schools Kevin M. Coster; WFHS principal Philip Scotto; and Floyd Academy principal John DeBenedetto.
