Tracey Dorismond, 32, of 6 Bess Court, Brentwood, has been identified as the woman struck and killed by a hit-and-run driver in West Islip on May 23.
The investigation is continuing.
Suffolk County Police Major Case Unit detectives are investigating a hit-and-run crash that killed a female pedestrian in West Islip on the night of May 23.
A motor vehicle was traveling westbound on Montauk Highway, near Pease Lane, when it struck a female pedestrian in the roadway at approximately 10:30 p.m. The vehicle fled the scene westbound, police said in their release.
The victim, whose name is being withheld pending notification of next of kin, was pronounced dead at the scene by a physician assistant from the Office of the Suffolk County Medical Examiner.
Detectives are asking anyone with information on this crash to call the Major Case Unit at 631-852-6555 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-220-TIPS. All calls will be kept confidential.
