Nino’s Pizzeria & Cucina in Mastic Beach celebrated their 50-year anniversary with a ribbon-cutting ceremony and resolutions presented by local officials on Thursday, June 18.
This event was held to honor and recognize Nino’s Pizzeria owner Vinny Antonacci, who started this restaurant over half a century ago at the age of 18.
Many were in attendance as Nino’s Pizzeria celebrated over five decades of service, including the Antonacci family, Sen. Dean Murray, Legis. Jim Mazzarella, assemblyman Joseph DeStefano, Brookhaven supervisor, Daniel J. Panico, councilwoman Karen Dunne-Kesnig, and friends, family, and local business owners.
Growing up just a couple of blocks from Nino’s, Panico describes what this means for the community and himself.
“Well, this is incredible, that you have 50 years, five decades of one family carrying this pizzeria and Italian restaurant,” Panico said. “I grew up eating pizza here when I lived in Mastic Beach.”
Sen. Murray presented Nino’s with the New York State Empire Award, an award of the highest honor that recognizes local small businesses’ impact, excellence, and contribution to their community.
Tricia Antonacci, daughter of owner Vinny, expressed her gratitude for this restaurant and her dad.
“It’s an achievement to be here this long,” said Antonacci. “My dad built it from the start.”
