Project Prom initiative comes to the Boys & Girls Club

Local community organizations Solloman’s Porch, The Boys and Girls Club of the Bellport Area, and P & G Specialties, LLC., are coming together to try to make this year’s prom season more accessible and inclusive for community members through the Project Prom initiative.

Donations of prom attire including suits, formal shoes, dresses, jewelry, accessories, bags and pocketbooks, and more, are being accepted and donated to local families to help make the event less costly.

Additionally, the Project Prom team is looking to collect gift cards for students to get nail, hair, and makeup treatments as well as seeking volunteer hairdressers, barbers, and nail technicians who can offer their services.

The goal is to offer a shopping experience to participants, so racks and hangers to hang and organize the clothing and accessories are also needed.

Students from all districts are welcome to participate; donation collection will begin in April and items will be available at the Boys and Girls Club in Bellport on May 6, May 20, and June 3. For more information or to schedule a time to drop off or have donation items picked up, please call Regina Hunt at 631-294-3488 or Christie Rivers at 631-428-1675.
