Rep. Andrew Garbarino was sworn into office on Jan. 3, 2021 for New York’s 2nd Congressional District. He has served on the House Financial Services Committee, Ethics Committee, and Homeland Security Committee, where he is the chair of the Subcommittee on Cybersecurity, Infrastructure Protection, and Innovation.
“During my time in Congress, I have delivered results for our district,” said Garbarino.
Since taking office, Garbarino and his staff have resolved 7,000 cases on behalf of Long Islanders and recovered over $21 million from the federal government to return to constituents.
Garbarino has secured billions of dollars to New York State to rebuild infrastructure and “repair crumbling roads” as well as $36.361 million for 15 community projects in NY-2.
“I’ve consistently fought to ensure that our 9/11 first responders have access to the health care they need and deserve, securing $1.5 billion to address the funding
shortfall for the World Trade Center Health Program,” said Garbarino.
According to Garbarino, the top three issues he will focus on should he be re-elected are lowering the cost of living, continuing to address our local infrastructure needs, and securing our borders.
“I am continuing to lead the fight to restore our SALT tax deductions to put more money back into the pockets of Long Islanders. I am confident we will get this done in 2025,” said Garbarino.
“On the infrastructure front, I have not only secured billions of dollars for New York to repair our roads and bridges, including so many in our local communities, but also to expand our sewer access. Continuing to build out our sewer infrastructure is crucial to protecting our drinking water and the Great South Bay, as well as for economic development,” said Garbarino.
“As a matter of national security, we must secure our borders. Strengthening our border security will help prevent illegal crossings, and stem the flow of illegal drugs into our country. Without a secure border, New York will continue to deal with a migrant crisis that is putting stress on our social services systems and draining taxpayer dollars,” said Garbarino.
