The Bayport-Blue Point and East Islip varsity softball teams will be bringing some cheer to 25 disadvantaged youths from Bellport’s Outreach Outpatient Services.
The two teams joined together for their annual Christmas Magic Shopping Extravaganza at Target in Sayville.
Some players on BBP have been participating since the age of 7. BBP coach Nicholle Marchetta was with her son, AJ, to support the team.
The Bellport Outreach program assists outpatients in services to help individuals struggling with alcohol and drug abuse disorders. According to Outreach, “Anyone—regardless of age, cultural background or socioeconomic status—can be affected by alcohol or drugs.”
Outreach customizes an age-appropriate, self-help model for the individual and involves family members in the process to improve the chances of a lifelong recovery.
