Wanted for Mastic Beach robberies

Suffolk County Police today arrested Derrick Clancy for the two residential burglaries during which elderly women were assaulted in Mastic Beach that occurred on October 10 and October 17.
Following an investigation by Seventh Squad detectives, Clancy, 42, undomiciled, was arrested on Carleton Avenue in Central Islip at 3:45 p.m. and charged with two counts of Burglary 1st Degree, a felony.
He is being held overnight for arraignment at First District Court in Central Islip.

Suffolk County Crime Stoppers and Suffolk County Police Seventh detectives are seeking the public’s help to identify and locate the man who assaulted two elderly women during home burglaries this month.

An unknown man entered a Mastic Beach home on October 10 at approximately 4 a.m. and assaulted a 78-year-old woman. On October 17 at approximately 12:40 a.m., a man with a similar description entered a Mastic Beach home and assaulted a 75-year-old woman. Both women were alone at the time of the assaults.

The suspect was described as dark-skinned, approximately 30 years old, 5 feet 2 inches tall to 5 feet 6 inches tall, with an athletic build.
