William Floyd boys varsity soccer has had a valiant start to their 2024 fall season.

In Suffolk County Division I, they have exercised an impressive autumn campaign thus far, with a 5-4-1 overall record and 2-0-1 league record.

The Colonials are looking to amplify their recent success after they made the playoffs last season for the ninth consecutive year. The Colonials fell to Northport in the first round of the postseason last October by a score of 3-1.

Their overall record last year was 8-7-1 and their league record was 4-4. The Colonials opened the season in dominating fashion, shutting out the Bellport Clippers 4-0 at home on Sept. 4.

Another shutout (2-0) ensued three days later at Longwood. Subsequently, two days later William Floyd outlasted North Babylon 2-1 on the road improving to 3-0. On Tuesday, Sept. 10, William Floyd tied Brentwood 2-2, then that Friday defeated the Patchogue-Medford Raiders 2-1 to improve to 4-0-1.

A day later, the Colonials appeared on the right of the scoreboard for the first time this year, falling 1-0 to Syosset, then lost another tough one 2-1 at Walt Whitman on Sept. 17. They rebounded from those two defeats to dominate and shut out the Riverhead Blue Waves 5-0 on Friday, Sept. 20 at home.

Last week, William Floyd lost 1-0 to Sachem North at Sachem North; then the Colonials fell to the Ward Melville Patriots 3-2 last Friday. They faced Sachem East on Sept. 30 and will host a matinee vs. the Central Islip Musketeers Saturday, Oct. 5 at 2 p.m.

Next week, William Floyd boys soccer will play host to Longwood, then the following week will trek to Brentwood, then return home against Pat-Med on Oct.18 at 4 p.m. The regular season finale is at Central Islip for a 4:30 p.m. contest on Oct. 22.
