Harmony Café and The Toast Coffeehouse offers ‘a place at the table’

As the holiday season approaches, Harmony Café, a nonprofit organization with a mission to empower guests through nutritious foods and wellness education, is teaming up with the Toast Coffeehouse in Patchogue to host the “In Harmony Toast-Giving Free Thanksgiving Dinner” on Nov. 21, 2023, from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m., at the Toast Coffeehouse. This annual event, now in its fifth year, brings together people from all walks of life to celebrate the spirit of giving and to provide a memorable Thanksgiving experience for the less fortunate in the community.

The “In Harmony Toast-Giving Free Thanksgiving Dinner” will offer traditional Thanksgiving dishes and desserts, along with live music performances by Patrick Mchale and the Om-En Duo, creating an inviting atmosphere reminiscent of a warm family gathering. Guests can choose to dine in or take out meals, and it is expected that 300 to 400 meals will be served, making this a truly heartwarming occasion. The Toast Coffeehouse uses its volunteer restaurant staff to serve alongside Harmony Café’s volunteers.

The community event is unlike any other free Thanksgiving event because it is hosted in a restaurant with live music. In a heartfelt letter to potential donors, Rosemarie McCarthy, the founder, and president of Harmony Café, expressed the importance of this event and the impact it has on the guests. “This event provides guests with more than just food; it’s a dining experience and a chance to spend time with family and friends without the stressor of worrying if they can afford the restaurant meal. For many, it’s the only restaurant dining experience they will have all year. With the public’s help, we can ensure that no family will go without a holiday meal, while spreading joy to those that may need it the most.”

There are multiple ways to contribute to this heartwarming cause. Harmony Café offers sponsorship packages for businesses ranging from $50 to $1,000, allowing local companies to support their community directly. Additionally, community members can make a difference through donations, ensuring that everyone can enjoy a memorable Thanksgiving dinner this year. This year more than ever, donations are needed—the need for meals has increased along with the cost to host this wonderful event, complicated by the rate of inflation, which is at a 40-year high.

Harmony Café invites you to join them in making this Thanksgiving a time of togetherness, kindness, and generosity. Together, we can help provide nutritious meals and a sense of belonging to those who need it most. For those that need a holiday meal, there is still time to reserve your spot by calling 631-792-6632 or by writing to: info@harmonycafeli.org.
