Boy Scout Troop 205 gets to work cleaning cars

Posted

Cars were lining up in East Islip last Saturday, Oct. 3, for Boy Scouts of America Troop 205’s car wash. The troop put in a full day’s work, starting at 9 a.m. and finishing at 2 p.m.

Based out of Great River, Troop 205 holds events all year round, teaching life skills through an assortment of experiences, like even their car wash.  Every customer had troops of all ages hard at work scrubbing and rinsing their car until it was perfectly clean.

Taking place along Montauk Highway, the assembly line of Boy Scouts were in the Bank of America parking lot. Customers could get a wash and dry for only $15, while supporting future activities and projects the troop has in store, from the National Jamboree to Scouting America High Adventure lifetime experiences.

Lending a hand to the Boy Scouts were Gary and Matt from Lee’s Auto Body. If customers gave a donation to the troop, they would remove minor dings and scratches. Additionally, each car wash came with a $5 gift card for the South Shore Deli, which is also located in East Islip.

50/50 tickets and a raffle located next to the car wash gave customers a variety of ways to help the troop’s fundraiser.
