Animal shelter hosts fashion show

Dogs dressed to the nines hit the runway this past Sunday, Sept. 13, for Tula Kitchen’s Doggy Fashion Show. Held with the Town of Islip Animal Shelter, the adoption event aimed to get pups a home while letting them show off their fashion.

Special guest MC Annie Manildoo provided commentary while the pups strutted their stuff.

Warming up the audience, Manildoo made sure her setlist included several grand entrances, including Whitney Houston’s “I Have Nothing” to get the crowd clapping.

Throughout the restaurant, different descriptions and links for each pup were posted. Jamba, a 1-year-old bulldog, is just one example of how these pups just want a family to play with.

“This big, goofy guy is sure to put a smile on your face. Jamba is the sweetest boy. He loves playing outside, going for walks, and just hanging out with his pals,” the shelter shared. From bulldogs, huskies, Labs to pitbulls, all the pups were excited to have a big day with the spotlight on them.

All the pups were happy to greet the guests with wagging tails, with pups like Cookie giving a smile to all the attendees. Winslow gave guests a wink, while Petunia preferred to get some pets from the audience while she walked. Kozy, the longest resident, sprinted down the runway with a burst of energy, happy to just have some fun.

A raffle featuring treats, dog toys, wine and even two main stage tickets at the Argyle Theater were available for guests to win. All proceeds from the raffle and event went towards supporting the Town of Islip Animal Shelter. Dog clothes and accessories were also for sale for guests to give their pups a fashion makeover.

Following the runway, the pups sat down with the guests to show their personality and relax. Or in 1-year-old Lab mix Shelly’s case, roll around and jump because she was so excited to say hi to everyone.

All the pups up for adoption can be visited at the Town of Islip Animal Shelter’s Find-a-pet page, petfinder.com.
