Fur, feather, and fin family members were all represented at the 44th annual Pet Parade in downtown Sayville on Saturday, Sept. 10 at 9 a.m.
This free event has been hosted annually by the members of the Sayville Rotary. “Every year, pets and their owners have a wonderful, proud march down Main Street, Sayville, to the delight of onlookers who crowd the sidewalks,” said a representative for the Rotary. “Pets of all shapes, sizes, and breeds are in attendance... dogs, cats, birds, horses, lizards, guinea pigs, hamsters, mice, turtles, rabbits, and even a ladybug have been paraded through our downtown.”
In recent years, the event has drawn crowds of 200 to 300 people from as far New Jersey, Connecticut and Massachusetts. The parade ended in Rotary Park, where judges made their determination on a variety of award categories.
