Farmers’ market at the bandshell

Customers came from all over to get a good look at these locally made products for sale at the Bay Shore Bandshell. Bay Shore’s Farmers’ Market was full of local vendors at the bandshell on Aug. 21, offering anything from baked goods to crafts and botanicals.

Zito’s Traditions was keeping their family recipe alive with their sauce stand. Selling a variety of their special olive oil-based Amogio sauce, the recipe has been passed down for everyone to enjoy.

“It’s actually my uncle’s business, and it was a family recipe. And so, he just started making it at family parties and gatherings and whatnot, and then everyone just started loving it and they’re like, ‘Oh my gosh, you make that jar?’

And then it just started growing from there,” owner Giovanni Zito’s niece, Abby, shared.

Some vendors, like C & J Bakehouse, took a hobby and made it a successful business.

“I was really interested in getting into the sourdough baking,” co-owner Tiffany Albertini shared. “During COVID, I started off with doing biscuits, and then I moved into breads and cookies. And I just really enjoyed it.

Everyone would always ask me to bring them if we were having an event and things like that. So a lot of people just encouraged me to get out there and try to sell them. I decided to do it and we just started at the beginning of this year.”

Other bakers, such as Olive Cottage gourmet cookies and Big Bite Bakery, gave customers a wide variety of sweet treats to purchase.

Juices from Juicella offered a more wellness-focused experience for those looking for cleaner eating. For homemade Korean dishes, Omma’s Taste had dumplings, scallion pancakes, and other delicacies at their table. Spy Trail Distillery and Jones Beach Brewing had their own brewed goods for sale.

The Bay Shore Farmers’ Market is held every Friday from 3 to 7 p.m., and new vendors are always being included.
